Malick Sambou: Senegal midfielder makes Bourges FC move after Casa Sports spell

Senegal attacking midfielder Malick Sambou has joined Bourges FC from Casa Sports on a free transfer, completing a move from Senegal’s Ligue 1 to France’s National 1.

The 20-year-old, who was born in Ziguinchor, switches clubs after two seasons with Casa Sports, where he established himself in the senior team following his arrival from Casa U20 in August 2023.

Sambou made 29 Ligue 1 appearances for Casa Sports, scoring five goals and providing two assists. He also featured twice in the CAF Confederation Cup, playing 125 minutes in the continental competition.

The right-footed midfielder is listed as an attacking midfielder and stands 1.82m tall. His arrival gives Bourges an additional option in the central attacking areas as the club competes in National 1 Group C.

Sambou’s move represents his first transfer outside Senegal. He spent the early part of his senior career with Casa Sports after progressing from the club’s under-20 side, and now begins a new chapter in French football at a club competing in the country’s third tier.

His departure brings an end to a spell in which he combined domestic league football with continental experience. The five goals he scored in Ligue 1 came across 2,257 minutes, while his two assists further contributed to his attacking output during the campaign.

Bourges FC have secured the services of a Senegal international-profile player who arrives after regular top-flight involvement in his home country. Sambou joins without a transfer fee, while the move was registered on 21 August 2026.

The transfer also places the midfielder in a different competitive environment, with Bourges competing in National 1 Group C rather than the Senegalese top flight. His role remains focused on attacking midfield, the position in which he has accumulated the majority of his recent senior appearances.

Sambou has now formally completed his free transfer from Casa Sports to Bourges FC.
