Babacar Diack makes Austria switch as Senegal midfielder joins SV Kapfenberg

Senegal midfielder Babacar Diack has joined Austrian side SV Kapfenberg from AS Camberene on loan, completing a move to the 2. Liga club on 21 August 2026.

The 20-year-old central midfielder’s loan runs until 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to AS Camberene. Diack’s move takes him from Senegal’s Ligue 2 to Austria’s second tier, marking the latest stage of a career that has already included experience outside his home country.

Diack was born in Saint-Louis, Senegal, on 1 July 2006. He joined AS Camberene after returning from a loan spell with Czech club Chrudim at the end of the 2025-26 season. That temporary move to Chrudim began on 13 February 2026, before ending on 30 June.

He now becomes part of the Kapfenberg squad for the 2026-27 campaign. The club compete in the 2. Liga, Austria’s second level, and Diack is registered as a central midfielder.

The transfer was completed at the start of the Austrian season, with Kapfenberg’s campaign already under way. Diack has not yet made an appearance for the club in the competition, meaning his first involvement will come after his arrival in Austria.

His move to Kapfenberg gives him another opportunity to gain experience in European football after his previous loan at Chrudim. The switch also places him in a new domestic competition, following his time with AS Camberene in Senegal’s Ligue 2.

Diack’s current agreement with Kapfenberg is set to run through the 2026-27 season. The scheduled end of the loan means his next transfer movement is set for 30 June 2027, when he will leave the Austrian club and rejoin AS Camberene.

Kapfenberg have therefore secured the services of the Senegal international for the campaign on a temporary basis, with the midfielder’s registration at the club beginning on 21 August 2026.
