Hakim Ziyech transfer news

Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech’s future at Wydad Athletic Club remains uncertain, with the club preparing to present him with three offers from the Gulf region as it seeks a solution to his costly contract.

Wydad officials are keen to keep the former Chelsea winger, but want to restructure his financial terms as they attempt to reduce the pressure on the club’s finances.

The situation is expected to be discussed during a third meeting between Ziyech and Wydad president Ibrahim Al-Asri in the coming days.

Wydad want to restructure Ziyech’s contract

Al-Asri has already held two meetings with the Morocco international, but neither produced an agreement.

Wydad’s preferred solution involves lowering Ziyech’s monthly salary while compensating him through a signing bonus paid in instalments.

The club’s proposal would reportedly maintain the overall value of his financial package, but Ziyech has rejected the arrangement and wants to continue under the existing payment structure.

His current contract represents a significant expense for Wydad, with the player earning close to €100,000 per month and costing the club more than €1m each year.

Gulf offers could influence Ziyech’s decision

Wydad have received offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

The club is expected to present the options to Ziyech during the next meeting as it attempts to find a solution that could ease its financial burden while still leaving the door open for the Moroccan to remain in Casablanca.

The offers could provide an alternative should the two sides fail to reach an agreement over a revised contract.

Tensions add to uncertainty

Ziyech’s financial situation has also coincided with some tensions within the Wydad camp.

There have reportedly been disagreements surrounding his relationship with members of the medical staff, while his irregular arrival at the team hotel has also raised concerns.

The coach has spoken to the Moroccan forward about the issue and stressed that his involvement in tactical sessions depends on respecting the team’s organisational rules.

Third meeting could prove decisive

Ziyech’s future is therefore likely to become clearer after the next meeting with Wydad officials.

The club remains interested in retaining the Morocco international but wants him to accept a different financial arrangement.

With offers from Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain now potentially on the table, the third meeting could determine whether Ziyech stays with Wydad or begins another chapter of his career elsewhere.
