Real Madrid name full squad for Espanyol clash as new signings included

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has named a squad featuring all of the club’s new signings for Saturday’s La Liga meeting with Espanyol, although Eder Militao remains unavailable because of injury.

Real Madrid will travel to face Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium on Saturday evening in the second round of the Spanish league season. The match is scheduled to begin at 22:00.

The squad includes the club’s full group of recent additions, with no new absences reported. Militao, however, continues to miss out after suffering an injury before the start of the 2026 World Cup.

Mourinho has selected three goalkeepers for the fixture: Thibaut Courtois, Andriy Lunin and Sergio Mestre.

The defensive options are Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella, Alvaro Carreras, Antonio Rudiger, Denzel Dumfries and Mario Rivas.

In midfield, Real Madrid will have Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Arda Guler, Bernardo Silva, Jorge Cestero and Alexis Ciria available.

The attacking players named in the squad are Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe, Carlos Aspe, Brahim Diaz and Yann Diomande.

Real Madrid’s trip to Espanyol comes after the opening round of the campaign, while the club’s postponed first-round match against Real Sociedad is due to take place next Wednesday, 26 August.

That fixture will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu, giving Mourinho’s side a second match in the space of five days as they continue their La Liga schedule.

The inclusion of every new signing gives Mourinho a wide range of options for the match at Espanyol, while the continued absence of Militao leaves the defender sidelined as he recovers from the injury sustained before the 2026 World Cup.

Real Madrid will therefore begin the weekend with an away fixture before returning home for the rearranged meeting with Real Sociedad.
