Mawuli Mensah joins AD Ceuta as Ghanaian midfielder begins new LaLiga2 chapter

Ghanaian central midfielder Mawuli Mensah has joined AD Ceuta from Real Zaragoza on a free transfer, completing his move to the Spanish second-tier club on 21 August 2026.

The 22-year-old has signed a contract with Ceuta running until 30 June 2028. Mensah, who was born in Accra and is a right-footed midfielder, moves to the club after spending the opening part of his senior career in Spain.

Mensah joined Real Zaragoza from Betis Deportivo on 2 February 2026, also on a free transfer. His time with Zaragoza followed a spell at Betis Deportivo that began in July 2023, when he moved from Antequera CF for a fee of €60,000.

Before arriving in Spain, Mensah began his senior career with Ghanaian club Shooting Stars. He joined Antequera in January 2022 on a free transfer, marking his move into Spanish football.

His career record includes 76 appearances, 11 goals and four assists in Segunda Federacion, along with 31 appearances in Primera Federacion. He has also made 13 appearances in LaLiga2 and played in a promotion play-off, where he scored once in three matches.

Mensah’s arrival gives AD Ceuta a midfielder with experience across Spain’s professional and semi-professional divisions. The club will compete in LaLiga2 during the 2026-27 season, while Zaragoza are listed as competing in Primera Federacion – Group II.

The deal also represents the latest step in a sequence of moves completed without a transfer fee, following Mensah’s switches from Shooting Stars to Antequera, Betis Deportivo to Zaragoza and now Zaragoza to Ceuta.

Mensah’s market value is listed at €400,000, while his highest recorded value is €500,000. He stands 1.72 metres tall and is listed primarily as a central midfielder.

The Ghanaian midfielder has therefore moved to AD Ceuta on a free transfer from Real Zaragoza, with his new contract secured until June 2028.
