Abde Ezzalzouli to miss Sociedad game

Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Moroccan international Abde Samad Ezzalzouli will miss the club’s upcoming match against Real Sociedad as he continues his recovery from injury.

Ezzalzouli has not yet reached the required level of fitness following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with the Real Betis coaching staff opting to take a cautious approach to his return.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Pellegrini explained that the club does not want to rush the winger back into competitive action and risk a setback.

The Chilean coach said Ezzalzouli “must continue his recovery calmly after his knee injury and will participate when he is fully fit,” stressing that his return will be managed gradually.

Pellegrini also revealed that the Moroccan still needs additional time to regain both his physical and technical sharpness after spending a considerable period away from competitive football.

The Real Betis boss believes caution is particularly important at this stage of the player’s recovery, with the club focused on ensuring that he does not suffer a recurrence of the injury.

Ezzalzouli had recently stepped up his training programme with Real Betis after a lengthy absence caused by an injury he sustained while on international duty with the Moroccan national team.

However, his return to competitive action has been slower than initially expected, with the club’s medical and coaching teams continuing to monitor his progress closely.

Despite his gradual return to training, Ezzalzouli will not be involved against Real Sociedad as Pellegrini waits for him to reach full fitness.

The coaching staff are expected to continue integrating the Atlas Lion into team activities step by step before eventually giving him the green light to return to competitive matches.

For now, Real Betis will prioritise the player’s long-term recovery rather than risk bringing him back prematurely, with Pellegrini determined to ensure Ezzalzouli returns when he is fully prepared to perform at his best.
