RS Berkane in talks to sign Cape Verde captain Ryan Mendes

Moroccan champions RS Berkane are in advanced negotiations with Cape Verde captain Ryan Mendes over a potential move to the club.

The 36-year-old forward has emerged as a target for Berkane, with the club keen to add his experience and attacking quality to their squad ahead of the new season.

Former Cape Verde head coach Bubista is understood to be pushing for the move as he seeks to reunite with Mendes at the Moroccan side.

Bubista, who previously worked with Mendes at international level, knows the forward well and is keen to have him as part of his squad at Berkane.

A one-year contract has reportedly been placed on the table for Mendes, with an option to extend the agreement for an additional season.

The proposed deal would see the experienced attacker continue his career in Morocco, where he could bring considerable experience to a Berkane side competing domestically and on the continental stage.

Mendes has been a key figure for Cape Verde for several years and currently serves as captain of the national team. His leadership and international experience are among the qualities attracting Berkane to the veteran forward.

Talks between the two parties are at an advanced stage, although the transfer is yet to be completed.

If an agreement is reached, Mendes would become one of the latest experienced African internationals to make the move to the Moroccan league, while his reunion with Bubista could add another dimension to Berkane’s attacking options.
