Riyad Mahrez transfer rumour: Wydad AC linked with Algeria winger
Riyad Mahrez, the Algerian-French winger currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Moroccan side Wydad AC.
The proposed switch would take the 35-year-old to Botola Pro Inwi after he left Al-Ahli on 4 July 2026. Mahrez joined the Saudi club from Manchester City in July 2023 in a €35m transfer and won the AFC Champions League with Al-Ahli in the 2025-26 season.
Mahrez has also been involved for Algeria at the 2026 World Cup, making four appearances, scoring twice and providing one assist. He started 75% of Algeria’s matches and played 73% of the available minutes in the competition.
The winger made his name in English football with Leicester City, helping them win the Premier League in 2015-16 before moving to Manchester City. He won five English league titles and the Champions League once during his time at City.
Across his Premier League career, Mahrez recorded 82 goals and 63 assists in 284 appearances. He has also scored 23 goals and supplied 35 assists in 90 Saudi Pro League matches.
Wydad, one of Morocco’s leading clubs, are the side now linked with the experienced wide player, although the rumour does not indicate whether negotiations have begun or provide details of a proposed contract.
