Guy Bukasa leaves Al Hilal SC just weeks after taking charge
Congolese coach Guy Bukasa has left Sudanese club Al Hilal SC just weeks after being appointed, bringing his one-year contract to an early end.
Bukasa was appointed by the club on 4 July and had been given responsibility for both the senior team and the club’s youth sides.
His departure means his planned work on strengthening Al Hilal’s youth development programme has come to an abrupt end.
The coach had been brought in with a role that went beyond managing the first team. He was also expected to oversee the club’s youth teams as part of efforts to improve the development structure.
However, that assignment has now ended much earlier than expected, with Bukasa deciding to leave his position despite having initially agreed to a one-year deal.
The decision comes as an unexpected development in the coach’s career and ends his latest spell in Sudan after only a short period in charge.
Bukasa’s appointment on 4 July had marked the beginning of a new phase at Al Hilal, with the Congolese coach tasked with responsibilities across both the senior and youth sections of the club.
His early departure now leaves the Sudanese side facing a change in its coaching structure after the brief collaboration.
The reasons behind the decision have not yet been clarified. The circumstances surrounding the end of the relationship between Bukasa and Al Hilal’s management remain unclear.
For Bukasa, the move represents another unexpected turn in his coaching career, while Al Hilal must now deal with the premature end of a project that was originally expected to run for a full year.
The Congolese coach’s short stay also brings an immediate conclusion to his role in the club’s plans for youth development.
Further details about the reasons for the split between Bukasa and Al Hilal SC are yet to emerge.
