Jocelin Ta Bi: Sunderland winger linked with Lyon move
Jocelin Ta Bi, the Ivorian winger at Sunderland, has been linked with a move to French Ligue 1 club Lyon.
The 21-year-old joined Sunderland from Maccabi Netanya in January 2026 in a reported €4m transfer and has a contract with the Premier League club until 30 June 2030.
Ta Bi has made one Premier League appearance for Sunderland, playing 39 minutes, and also featured once in the FA Cup. He plays on the right wing and is left-footed.
Before moving to England, Ta Bi spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Hapoel Petah Tikva from Maccabi Netanya. He made 27 appearances in Israel’s second tier, scoring five goals and providing three assists, before adding two goals and two assists in 12 appearances in the top flight.
His current market value is listed at €2.5m, below the €4m fee Sunderland paid for him in January.
Ta Bi began his senior career with JC Abidjan before moving to Bnei Tubruk’s under-19 side in 2023 and then joining Maccabi Netanya a year later. He has represented Cote d’Ivoire at club-record level only, with no senior international appearances listed.
The reported interest from Lyon comes with Ta Bi still under a long-term Sunderland contract, leaving the Premier League club in control of his immediate future.
