Amath Ndiaye leaves Real Valladolid for Lusail SC

Senegal striker Amath Ndiaye has left Real Valladolid to join Qatari club Lusail SC, bringing his second spell with the Spanish side to an end.

The transfer was officially confirmed on Thursday, 20 August, following several days of negotiations between the clubs and the player.

Ndiaye returned to Valladolid in January 2024 after joining from Mallorca on loan. He made an immediate impact, scoring five goals in nine appearances as the club secured promotion to La Liga.

His performances during that initial spell led Valladolid to make the move permanent after exercising their option to buy the Senegalese forward.

However, his return to the Spanish top flight proved more difficult. Ndiaye endured a challenging 2024-25 campaign in the first division as he struggled for consistency during the season.

The 2025-26 campaign offered him more opportunities, with the Senegal international scoring four goals despite a series of injury problems.

Among the setbacks he suffered were a facial fracture and a fractured fibula, which affected his availability during his time with the club.

Ndiaye now leaves Spain after several years playing in the country and will continue his career in Qatar with Lusail SC.

The move represents another change of league for the forward, who began his career with Senegalese club Diambars before making his way to Spain.

During his time in Spanish football, Ndiaye also represented Tenerife, Getafe and Mallorca before returning to Valladolid for his second spell.

His departure from Valladolid closes a chapter that included both promotion success and difficult periods in La Liga.

The Senegalese forward will now look to make an impact in Qatar after completing his move to Lusail SC.

Ndiaye has also represented Senegal at international level, earning four caps for the Lions of Teranga.
