Al Ahli Tripoli sign Fiston Mayele on two-year deal
Libyan side Al Ahli Tripoli have completed the signing of Congolese striker Fiston Mayele on a two-year contract following his departure from Egyptian club Pyramids FC.
The 31-year-old forward joins the Libyan giants in one of the most lucrative moves involving an African-based player, with the deal reportedly worth $10 million over two years.
Under the agreement, Mayele is set to earn $5 million per season, underlining Al Ahli Tripoli’s ambition to strengthen their squad with one of the continent’s most prolific forwards.
Mayele arrives after a successful spell with Pyramids FC, where he established himself as a key figure in the Egyptian side’s attack with his goalscoring exploits in domestic and continental competitions.
The move brings an end to his time in Cairo and offers the DR Congo international a fresh challenge in the Libyan Premier League as Al Ahli Tripoli look to compete for major honours at home and in African club competitions.
His signing is expected to boost expectations around the club’s ambitions, with supporters hoping his proven goalscoring record can make an immediate impact in the upcoming campaign.
