Siphesihle Ndlovu earns fresh praise after Man of the Match display for Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu has received further recognition for his influential performance in the 1-1 draw with Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Ndlovu was named Man of the Match after helping the in-form Amakhosi claim a point against Sundowns, with former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Matthew Booth praising the midfielder’s quality and decision-making.

The 1-1 result means Kaizer Chiefs remain unbeaten at the start of their early-season campaign. Their next league assignment will be against Richards Bay FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban next Wednesday.

Ndlovu continued his impressive run of form by playing a key role in Kaizer Chiefs’ opening goal. The midfield dynamo supplied a precise assist for starlet Langelihle Phili, who put Amakhosi ahead in the 63rd minute.

Although Sundowns eventually secured a draw, Ndlovu’s contribution stood out during a competitive encounter between two of South Africa’s leading clubs.

Reviewing the game on SuperSport TV, Booth highlighted the way Ndlovu created the opportunity, particularly his movement before delivering the pass.

“He (Ndlovu) is a quality player; he can do exactly this,” Booth said.

“I love that he shaped to go to his left, but then he cut in very nicely. Out of his peripheral vision, he saw Shabalala make the run and play a nicely weighted ball.

“There is nothing worse than making the run and then the ball being overhit or underhit.”

Booth’s comments add to the growing praise for Ndlovu, whose recent performances have made him an important figure in Kaizer Chiefs’ strong start to the season.

Against a Mamelodi Sundowns side that entered the fixture as Premiership champions, the midfielder showed composure in possession and helped Amakhosi threaten the visitors in a closely fought match.

His assist ultimately gave Kaizer Chiefs the advantage in the second half, but Sundowns responded to ensure the points were shared at FNB Stadium.

The draw extended Chiefs’ unbeaten run and leaves the club looking ahead to another league challenge against Richards Bay FC. That match will be played next Wednesday at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, where Ndlovu will hope to continue the form that has earned him both the Man of the Match award and further praise from Booth.
