Ajax to seal Abdoulaye Camara deal this week
Ajax are reportedly close to signing France Under-19 captain Abdoulaye Camara from Italian club Udinese in a deal that could eventually be worth €15m.
According to L’Équipe, the Dutch club have agreed a loan arrangement that includes a virtually mandatory purchase clause, which would be activated automatically if certain conditions are met.
Camara has been given permission to travel to the Netherlands for his medical before completing the move.
€15m deal could run until 2031
The 17-year-old is expected to sign his Ajax contract after completing his medical.
Should the purchase clause be activated, the agreement would reportedly keep Camara at the Amsterdam club until 2031.
The structure of the deal means Ajax could secure the services of one of Europe’s highly rated young defenders for a significant long-term investment.
Camara developed at Montpellier and Udinese
Camara was born in Conakry and developed through the youth system at French club Montpellier before moving to Udinese last summer in a €1.2m transfer.
He made one Serie A appearance during the 2025-26 campaign but trained regularly with Udinese’s senior squad.
His biggest development came with the club’s Primavera side, where he established himself as captain and gained valuable competitive experience.
France youth international
Camara’s leadership qualities have also been recognised at international level.
The teenager is captain of France’s Under-19 side and has made three appearances for the team after previously representing the country from Under-16 level.
His proposed move to Ajax would provide another important stage in his development, with the Dutch club renowned for giving opportunities to young players.
For Camara, the transfer would mark another significant step in a rapidly developing career after just one season in Italian football.
