Tottenham target Egypt forward Omar Marmoush in ambitious Manchester City move
Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for Egypt international Omar Marmoush, with new manager Roberto De Zerbi reportedly keen to bring the Manchester City forward to north London.
The Italian coach is planning a major overhaul of Tottenham’s attack as he looks to rebuild the side and challenge more strongly in the Premier League.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, De Zerbi wants Tottenham to pursue both Marmoush and Manchester City winger Savinho.
De Zerbi plans new attacking trio
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Tottenham are considering a complete reshaping of their forward line for the new season.
The proposed attacking unit would include Marmoush and Savinho, alongside Liverpool’s Netherlands international Cody Gakpo.
Such a move would represent a major statement of intent from Tottenham as De Zerbi attempts to establish a team capable of competing at the top end of the Premier League.
Manchester City reluctant to sell
Manchester City are reportedly unwilling to allow Marmoush or Savinho to leave before securing replacements.
The club are understood to be working on deals for Argentina international Enzo Fernandez and young Moroccan midfielder Ayoub Bouadi of Lille.
Until those moves are resolved, City are expected to retain control over the futures of the two attacking players.
Marmoush facing competition at City
Marmoush’s future has become a talking point after the Egyptian struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under Pep Guardiola last season.
The continued presence of Erling Haaland as City’s main striker has limited opportunities for the Egyptian, with that hierarchy again evident in the Community Shield against Arsenal.
A move to Tottenham could therefore offer Marmoush the prospect of a more prominent role, although any transfer would depend on Manchester City’s willingness to consider a departure.
For the Egyptian forward, the coming weeks could determine whether he remains at the Etihad or becomes the centrepiece of De Zerbi’s attacking rebuild at Tottenham.
