Crystal Palace weigh Wilfried Zaha reunion after free agent trains with Eagles
Wilfried Zaha could return to Crystal Palace, with the club considering a one-year contract for the former player after he trained with the Eagles to maintain his fitness.
The Ivory Coast international became a free agent a few weeks after leaving Galatasaray and has been using Crystal Palace’s facilities while he assesses his next move. His training sessions are understood to have impressed manager Pierre Sage, prompting the club’s hierarchy to explore the possibility of bringing their former forward back to Selhurst Park.
According to Ivoirezine, Palace’s preferred proposal would be a deal lasting one season. The short-term structure would allow the club to strengthen its squad with an experienced player while avoiding a longer commitment.
Zaha is reportedly highly interested in finishing his playing career with Crystal Palace and would be willing to accept a financial compromise to help make the move possible. A return to Selhurst Park would carry considerable emotional significance for both the player and the club.
Zaha came through Crystal Palace’s academy and enjoyed two spells with the Eagles. He made 458 appearances for the club, scoring 90 goals and providing 54 assists.
The 33-year-old left Crystal Palace in the summer of 2023 to join Galatasaray. He is now available without a transfer fee, although his estimated market value is €3.5m.
No final decision has yet been made. Crystal Palace are continuing to assess their options before deciding whether to formalise an offer for Zaha.
Palace are due to begin their English league campaign shortly with a match against Everton. For that fixture, betting company 1xbet lists Crystal Palace at 3.30 to win, with a draw also priced at 3.30 and an Everton victory at 2.00.
