Ami Diallo makes Seattle Reign move after standout ASEC Mimosas campaign
Seattle Reign have signed Cote d’Ivoire forward Ami Diallo from ASEC Mimosas on a contract running through the 2028 NWSL season.
The United States club paid an undisclosed transfer fee for the 25-year-old, who is expected to arrive in Seattle in the coming weeks subject to receiving her P-1 visa.
“Ami is a dynamic player who has already proven her talent at the highest level, and we believe she has tremendous potential to continue developing within our team,” Seattle Reign general manager Lesle Gallimore said in a statement.
“She brings quality, athleticism and a competitive spirit to our group, while her international experience will be valuable as she adapts to the NWSL. We are delighted to welcome Ami to Seattle and support her through the next stage of her career.”
Diallo joins Seattle Reign after playing a leading role in ASEC Mimosas’ rise to the top of women’s football in Cote d’Ivoire and Africa.
She scored 31 goals during the 2025-26 season, the second-highest total in the championship, as ASEC Mimosas secured their second successive Division 1 title in Cote d’Ivoire.
The forward also helped the club reach the final of the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League in its first appearance in the competition. Diallo scored three goals and provided one assist in five matches, including two goals and an assist against Gaborone United that helped ASEC Mimosas reach the semi-finals.
In another notable performance, she scored ASEC Mimosas’ only goal in a league match against AS FAR, heading in a cross to level the score. AS FAR eventually won 2-1 after being awarded and converting a second penalty.
Her performances earned Diallo a place among the three finalists for the 2025 CAF Women’s Interclub Player of the Year award. The honour was won by Moroccan midfielder Sanaa Mssoudy.
“I am delighted to join Seattle Reign FC and begin this new chapter of my career in the NWSL,” Diallo said.
“I cannot wait to meet my new team-mates, discover this new league and give everything for this club. I am looking forward to arriving in Seattle and meeting the supporters.”
ASEC Mimosas has long been regarded as one of Africa’s most important sources of male football talent. Former players developed by the club include Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Didier Zokora and Emmanuel Eboue, all of whom went on to enjoy successful European careers.
The women’s side was established only four years ago, but has already progressed from Division 2 to back-to-back Division 1 titles and a CAF Women’s Champions League final, with Diallo among the players at the centre of that development.
Diallo also represents Cote d’Ivoire internationally and was selected for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. She came on during the final two matches of the tournament, which marked Cote d’Ivoire’s return to the competition after an absence of more than a decade.
Cote d’Ivoire finished top of their group before losing 2-1 to Algeria in the last 16. They then suffered another 2-1 defeat by Ghana in their next match, a play-off for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
In April, Diallo helped Cote d’Ivoire win the 2026 FIFA Women’s Series. She scored four times against the Turks and Caicos Islands and added another goal against Pakistan.
Her five goals placed her second in the tournament’s scoring charts, behind international team-mate Priscille Kreto, who scored seven.
Diallo will now begin adapting to the pace and demands of the NWSL. Her speed and attacking instincts are expected to give Seattle Reign an additional threat, although her integration into the squad is likely to be gradual during the current year. Expectations are likely to be higher for the 2027 NWSL season.
Seattle Reign will also be looking for her contribution without the ball, with Diallo described as a player capable of working hard in the press as well as leading the attack.
“You can expect commitment, hard work and leadership on the pitch,” Diallo said in a CAF profile published this spring. “I will give everything for the team, whether that means scoring, defending or motivating my team-mates.”
