Egypt’s Second Division B groups redrawn on geographical basis

The Egyptian Football Association’s board has approved a new geographical distribution of the Second Division B clubs, with the competition draw scheduled to take place remotely on Thursday, 20 August.

The promotion and relegation system will remain unchanged, as will the competition’s existing conditions. The first two teams in each group will qualify for the promotion play-off for the Professional League.

The six qualifying teams will then meet in a single round-robin league. At the end of that phase, the sides finishing first and second will earn direct promotion to the Professional League.

That will make three promoted teams in total, once the team qualifying from the Upper Egypt group is included.

The revised groups are as follows:

Group One – Upper Egypt (A)

– Aswan – El Nasr Lel Taعدين – Kima Aswan – Luxor – El Madina El Monawara – Censo – Aluminium – Al Shabab El Muslimin Qena – Sohag – Sohag City Youth Centre – Tahta

The geographical restructuring is intended to organise the Second Division B competition into more regionally based groups. The association has retained the existing route to promotion, with the group stage determining which clubs advance to the decisive promotion phase.

The draw will be conducted remotely on Thursday, 20 August, before the revised competition structure begins. All promotion and relegation regulations will continue to operate under the same terms used previously.
