Rulani Mokwena targets every trophy after taking charge of Pyramids FC

Rulani Mokwena says he wants to win every available trophy with Pyramids FC after being officially presented as the club’s new head coach.

Pyramids held a news conference on Tuesday to introduce Mokwena and his coaching staff, while also announcing the club’s new sponsor. The South African has taken over from Croatian manager Krunoslav Jurcic.

Speaking at the event, Mokwena said: “It is an honour to coach a great club with enormous potential like Pyramids.”

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach added: “I hope to succeed in my mission with Pyramids and win every competition with the club in the new season.”

Mokwena’s appointment marks a new phase for Pyramids, who will begin their league campaign against Ghazl El Mahalla on Saturday. The fixture will be played in the opening round of the league competition.

Pyramids chairman Mamdouh Eid said the club had made the right decision by appointing Mokwena and his assistants.

“The choice of Mokwena and his coaching staff was successful and suited Pyramids’ ambitions,” Eid said during the presentation.

He added: “We are looking forward to achieving success with him, especially as he is an outstanding coach who has proved himself. He was the ideal choice for Pyramids to continue their winning journey.”

The club’s conference therefore combined the presentation of its new technical staff with the announcement of its new sponsorship arrangement. Mokwena now begins his tenure with Pyramids ahead of their first league match of the season, with the club targeting success across all competitions.

His immediate challenge will be to prepare the team for Saturday’s meeting with Ghazl El Mahalla, which will open Pyramids’ league schedule. The match will provide the first competitive opportunity for the new coaching staff to begin their work together.

Mokwena arrives at Pyramids after previously coaching Mamelodi Sundowns and succeeds Jurcic in the role. His stated ambition is to deliver every available title during the new season, while Eid has described the appointment as part of the club’s plan to maintain its progress and continue its run of victories.
