Al Ahly reject Konyaspor approach for Imam Ashour

Al Ahly have told Konyaspor that Imam Ashour is not available for transfer during the current season, rejecting a formal offer from the Turkish club for the Egypt international.

The Egyptian club confirmed on its official website that it had sent a written response to Konyaspor after receiving a proposal for Ashour worth $4.5m, to be paid over three years.

Al Ahly said in a statement: “The club sent a letter today to Turkish club Konyaspor, which stated: With reference to your request to acquire the services of our player Imam Ashour for $4.5m, payable over three years, we inform you that the player is not for sale this season, and we look forward to co-operating in the future.”

Ashour has attracted interest from Konyaspor after scoring twice for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup. The Turkish side began its domestic campaign with a 1-0 defeat by Rizespor.

Konyaspor spokesperson Cengiz Yunit previously said the club had not reached an agreement with Al Ahly over the midfielder.

However, a source close to Ashour told FilGoal.com that Konyaspor remained interested and had increased its offer to $4.25m.

Turkish website Yenihaberden also reported earlier on the same day that negotiations were continuing. Its report said Al Ahly had reduced their valuation from $8m, while Konyaspor were prepared to pay $7.5m.

The differing figures have not been reconciled publicly, but Al Ahly’s official response makes clear that the club does not intend to sell Ashour during this season.

The midfielder has also been linked with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad and Scottish side Celtic. His contract with Al Ahly runs until the summer of 2028.

According to information obtained by FilGoal.com, Al Ahly have offered Ashour a new contract worth 35m Egyptian pounds per season.

Ashour joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2023 from Danish club Midtjylland, having previously played for Ghazl El Mahalla and Zamalek.

He has made 105 appearances for Al Ahly in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and providing 25 assists.

During his time with the club, Ashour has won the Egyptian Premier League twice, the Egypt Cup, the Egyptian Super Cup twice, three continental cups, the CAF Champions League and a bronze medal at the FIFA Club World Cup.

His two goals at the 2026 World Cup were his first for the Egypt national team. He scored against Belgium with a powerful strike before heading home against Australia.

Ashour has played 34 matches for the Pharaohs.
