Ivorian youngster Abdoul Ouattara joins Ipswich Town on five-year deal
Ivorian youngster Abdoul Ouattara has completed a move from Strasbourg to newly promoted Ipswich Town, signing a five-year contract with the English club.
The 20-year-old will remain at Ipswich until June 2031 as he begins a new chapter in his developing career.
Ouattara departs Strasbourg after making his professional breakthrough with the French club. His performances have now earned him the opportunity to continue his development in England and compete in the Premier League.
Although Ipswich have not revealed the financial details of the transfer, the deal is reportedly worth around €20 million.
One of Ouattara’s biggest strengths is his versatility. The young Ivorian is capable of operating on either side of the defence and can also play in midfield, giving Ipswich additional flexibility within their squad.
The move will also reunite Ouattara with a manager he has previously worked under, a factor that played a significant role in his decision to make the switch to England.
Speaking after completing the transfer, Ouattara expressed his excitement at joining Ipswich and the prospect of playing in the Premier League.
“I am very happy to have signed for Ipswich Town. The Premier League is the best league in the world and as soon as I knew the opportunity was there, to play in England under a manager I have already enjoyed working with, I jumped at it.
“I am still young but have had some good experiences already and I can’t wait to meet the fans and my teammates and get started.”
Ouattara will now turn his attention to adapting to English football and making his mark as Ipswich prepare for life among the Premier League’s elite.
