Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola faces fresh uncertainty as PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye edges closer to Anfield

Liverpool’s plans to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain have been thrown into further doubt by the expected arrival of another PSG winger, Ibrahim Mbaye.

Mbaye, regarded as a young talent at the Paris club, is willing to move to Liverpool and is reportedly prepared to sign a five-year contract at Anfield. The 19-year-old winger’s readiness to join the Reds means Liverpool must now focus on completing an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Mbaye’s possible transfer is not expected to reduce Liverpool’s interest in Barcola. The French forward is also being linked with a move away from PSG, with Anfield viewed as a possible destination.

Despite that continuing interest, the prospect of Barcola joining Liverpool is said to be becoming increasingly uncertain. Mbaye’s situation has therefore added another complication to a deal involving Barcola, even though the two moves are not considered mutually exclusive.

Liverpool still need to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over Mbaye’s transfer. The teenager’s willingness to make the move and commit to a five-year deal has placed his potential switch at the centre of the latest developments surrounding the French club’s attacking players.

Barcola remains a separate target for Liverpool, but his position has become less clear. While the Reds are still interested in the Frenchman, his possible departure from PSG is now regarded as increasingly difficult to achieve.

The latest situation leaves Liverpool balancing two potential moves involving players from the same club. Mbaye is ready to join, while Barcola continues to be associated with a transfer to Anfield. Yet the anticipated progress of Mbaye’s deal has complicated the outlook for Barcola.

For now, Liverpool’s immediate task is to finalise terms with Paris Saint-Germain for Mbaye. At the same time, the club’s interest in Barcola remains in place, although reports suggest that the French international’s move to England is becoming more doubtful.

The developments mean Mbaye’s expected transfer has become the main factor affecting the wider picture. His willingness to sign for Liverpool and agree a five-year contract has not ended the Reds’ pursuit of Barcola, but it has made the Frenchman’s proposed move appear increasingly compromised.

Paris Saint-Germain therefore face the possibility of losing two young attacking players to Liverpool, although only Mbaye is currently described as being ready to make the move. Barcola is also expected to be considering an exit, but his path to Anfield is now less certain than before.
