Al-Nassr’s home stadium could host rearranged Al-Riyadh league meeting

Al-Nassr and Al-Riyadh have agreed to move their upcoming Roshn Saudi League fixture from Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City Stadium to Al-Awwal Park, with the proposed change now awaiting approval from the Saudi Pro League.

The match is scheduled for next Friday as part of the second round of the Roshn Saudi League. Al-Nassr submitted an official request to stage the game at its own ground after reaching an agreement with Al-Riyadh, according to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya.

Despite the proposed change of venue, Al-Riyadh would retain its status as the home team. The club would also remain entitled to the match revenue, after operating and maintenance costs have been deducted.

The arrangement means the fixture could be played at Al-Awwal Park without altering the formal designation of the match. Final approval from the Saudi Pro League is still required before the switch can be confirmed.

Al-Nassr began the Roshn Saudi League season with three points and currently lead the table after the opening round. They are ahead of Al-Hilal, Al-Ettifaq, Al-Qadsiah, Neom, Al-Hazem and Al-Ahli on goal difference, with all seven clubs also having three points.

Before facing Al-Riyadh in the league, Al-Nassr will turn their attention to the King’s Cup. They are due to play Al-Diriyah on Tuesday evening in the last-32 stage of the competition.

The proposed venue change would give Al-Nassr the chance to play the league fixture at Al-Awwal Park, while ensuring Al-Riyadh continues to receive the financial benefits associated with hosting the match. However, the agreement between the two clubs does not by itself complete the process, as the league authority must first approve the request.

The match is one of the fixtures scheduled for the second round of the Roshn Saudi League, which began with Al-Nassr at the top of the standings following the opening weekend. Their position is based on goal difference over the six other clubs listed on three points.
