Borussia Dortmund explore Christopher Nkunku transfer

Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Christopher Nkunku as AC Milan boss Ruben Amorim looks to offload several players before the end of the transfer window.

Amorim, who replaced Max Allegri in June, is determined to reduce the size of his squad as he attempts to rebuild Milan and restore the club to domestic and European contention.

The Italian giants are facing financial limitations after missing out on Champions League qualification for the 2026/27 campaign, leaving Amorim with a reduced transfer budget. The Portuguese coach is therefore prepared to listen to offers for several members of his squad.

Nkunku emerges as Newcastle option

Newcastle have been alerted to Nkunku’s availability following talks with Amorim, with Milan willing to consider an offer in the region of €25 million for the France international.

The Magpies could now weigh up whether the forward fits into their plans as they assess potential additions to their attacking options.

Nkunku only joined Milan last summer after an injury-hit spell at Chelsea, where his progress was repeatedly disrupted during his two seasons in England. Despite those setbacks, the 28-year-old remains highly regarded for his versatility and attacking quality.

He scored eight goals during his first season at the San Siro, but his future is now uncertain as Amorim seeks to reshape his squad.

Fofana also on Milan exit list

Nkunku is not the only prominent player who could leave Milan this month.

Premier League clubs Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace are exploring a possible move for midfielder Youssouf Fofana, with the Serie A side ready to consider offers as Amorim attempts to ease his squad burden.

For Nkunku, a return to the Premier League could offer an opportunity to revive a career that stalled during his time at Chelsea.

The Frenchman is reportedly open to another spell in England, while Milan’s willingness to accept around €25 million could make a deal more attainable for interested clubs.

With Amorim keen to complete his squad overhaul before the transfer window closes, Newcastle must now decide whether Nkunku represents the right opportunity as the Milan boss looks to raise funds and create room for further recruitment.
