Jordan coach Badou Zaki says it would be special to see his side qualify for the 2030 World Cup, particularly with the tournament set to be hosted by his native Morocco alongside Spain and Portugal.

Zaki, however, insists Jordan must remain focused on its immediate objectives, with the 2027 Asian Cup currently taking priority over thoughts of the next World Cup.

Speaking to FIFA’s official website, Zaki said discussions about the 2030 World Cup are still premature as Jordan prepare for the challenges ahead.

“I think it’s premature to talk about the 2030 World Cup just yet. Our current focus is on tournaments coming up in the near future, in particular the 2027 Asian Cup. We’re working to be as prepared as possible for those matches,” Zaki said.

The Moroccan coach believes Jordan have made significant progress in recent years and now possess the experience required to compete consistently at the highest level.

Zaki highlighted the growth of the Jordanian national team and believes its development has provided a strong foundation for future World Cup appearances.

“The Jordan team today has considerable potential and has gained greater experience at both the continental and international level, so we have all the ingredients we need to help us reach the World Cup on a regular basis,” he added.

Jordan’s progress has strengthened hopes that the team can establish itself among Asia’s regular contenders for major international tournaments.

For Zaki, Jordan qualifying for the 2030 World Cup would carry an added personal significance because Morocco will host the tournament.

“For me personally, it would certainly be special to see Jordan at the 2030 World Cup, especially with my home country hosting the tournament. But our focus right now has to be on the work and the fixtures ahead of us – one step at a time,” Zaki explained.

The Moroccan coach also remains proud of Jordan’s first appearance at the World Cup, believing their performance on football’s biggest stage demonstrated that the team has the quality to compete internationally.
