Pyramids FC thrash Modern Dubai 6-0 in first pre-season test

Pyramids FC began their preparations for the new season with an emphatic 6-0 victory over UAE side Modern Dubai in the first of two friendly matches scheduled for the day.

Youssef Obama scored a hat-trick for Pyramids, with Karim Hafez, Mahmoud Saber and Ouda El Fakhouri also finding the net in a commanding performance.

Pyramids established a decisive advantage before the interval. Youssef Obama scored twice in the first half, while Karim Hafez added a third goal from the penalty spot.

Obama completed his hat-trick after the break to make it 4-0, before Mahmoud Saber extended Pyramids’ lead with a fifth goal. Ouda El Fakhouri then completed the scoring as Pyramids finished the match with six unanswered goals.

The result was Pyramids’ first warm-up match of the day. They are due to face Eastern Company ENPPI shortly afterwards in another friendly, with a different line-up expected to be used for the second fixture.

That match will be Pyramids’ final preparatory test before the start of the new season. The club finished second in the previous campaign, one point behind league champions Zamalek.

Pyramids will begin their new league campaign against Ghazl El Mahalla on Saturday, 22 August. The match is scheduled to kick off at 20:00 Cairo time.

The victory over Modern Dubai provided Youssef Obama with the standout individual display, as his three goals accounted for half of Pyramids’ total. His first-half double set the tone for the match, while his second-half strike strengthened an already substantial lead.

Karim Hafez’s penalty added to Pyramids’ advantage before the interval, and the side continued to control the match after the restart. Mahmoud Saber and Ouda El Fakhouri added the final two goals to complete the six-goal margin.

Pyramids’ second friendly of the day against Eastern Company ENPPI will give the team another opportunity to prepare ahead of their opening fixture against Ghazl El Mahalla. The club’s immediate pre-season schedule therefore concludes with two matches on the same day, beginning with the comprehensive win against Modern Dubai.
