Paris Saint-Germain have signed Belgium winger Mika Godts from Ajax in a deal reportedly worth €55m.

The 22-year-old has agreed a contract with the European champions until 2031 and will wear the number 22 shirt.

Godts becomes Paris Saint-Germain’s fifth signing of the transfer window, following Alessandro Longoni, Maghnes Akliouche, Lucas Digne and Ferran Torres.

The young winger first attracted attention during his time at Genk before moving to Ajax for the 2023-24 season. He made his senior debut for Genk at the age of 17 and went on to establish himself as an important attacking player in the Netherlands.

Godts made 115 appearances for Ajax, scoring 26 goals and providing 28 assists.

He described his style and ambitions in an interview published on Paris Saint-Germain’s website.

“I am a player who loves dribbling, it is one of my main strengths. I am an attacking player who likes to score and create goals. But the most important thing for me is helping the team, having a positive spirit and entertaining the fans. In my everyday life, I am a calm person who is close to my family.”

He added: “I am a player capable of scoring and creating goals. I am very happy that I can do that here, at the great club Paris Saint-Germain. It is an opportunity for me to play football at the highest level.”

Paris Saint-Germain began their new campaign by winning the UEFA Super Cup, beating Aston Villa 2-1.

They will next face Lens in the French Super Cup on Sunday.

The club will then begin their Ligue 1 title defence against Rennes on Sunday, 23 August, at the Parc des Princes. Paris Saint-Germain won the French league last season and will be aiming to start their latest campaign with another victory.
