Taiwo Awoniyi set for Coventry switch after Forest transfer agreement

Coventry City have agreed a permanent deal with Nottingham Forest for striker Taiwo Awoniyi, with the Nigeria international undergoing a medical before the move can be completed.

The agreement between the two clubs has been finalised, according to Fabrizio Romano. Awoniyi’s transfer will become official once he passes the final checks, which are currently taking place.

The 29-year-old is expected to become a significant attacking addition for Frank Lampard’s side. His powerful centre-forward style should give Coventry another option in the final third as they prepare for the new campaign.

Awoniyi is still under contract at Nottingham Forest until 30 June 2027. His current market value is estimated at 8 million euros by Transfermarkt, while his annual salary is reported to be 2,992,948 euros, equivalent to 1,945,416,200 FCFA.

Unless an issue emerges during his medical examination, the move is expected to be formally confirmed soon. The transfer would mark the beginning of a new stage in Awoniyi’s career after his time at Nottingham Forest.

The forward’s arrival would also represent an important piece of business for Coventry, who are looking to strengthen their attacking options under Lampard. Awoniyi’s physical presence is expected to complement the club’s existing attacking resources and provide greater variety in the number nine position.

Nottingham Forest are due to begin their English league campaign against Leeds United. That match will take place shortly, with Forest facing a side that will provide an early test at the start of the season.
