Bayern Munich hail Saibari after debut assist in victory over Leipzig

Bayern Munich have welcomed Ismael Saibari’s first appearance for the club after the Morocco international made an immediate impact as a substitute in their 3-1 friendly win over Leipzig.

Saibari came on in the 71st minute and needed less than 10 minutes to influence the match, setting up Jamal Musiala for Bayern’s third goal in the 81st minute. The German midfielder later left the field in the 86th minute after suffering a sudden illness.

The Bundesliga club’s official social media accounts posted several messages celebrating Saibari’s debut on Saturday, highlighting the new signing’s assist for Musiala as he began his Bayern career.

The 25-year-old joined Bayern from PSV Eindhoven this summer and has signed a contract with the Bavarian club that runs until 2031. His first appearance came only a few days after he returned to full team training.

Saibari had previously been working separately from the rest of the squad while recovering from an injury sustained during the 2026 World Cup. He had only recently resumed collective sessions before being included in Bayern’s friendly against Leipzig.

The midfielder represented Morocco at the tournament and scored three goals during the competition. However, he missed Morocco’s 2-0 quarter-final defeat by France because of the injury.

His introduction against Leipzig gave him the opportunity to make an early impression at his new club, and he responded with a decisive contribution almost immediately. Saibari received the ball after coming on and created the opening for Musiala to complete Bayern’s three-goal haul.

Although the match was a pre-season fixture, Saibari’s assist offered an encouraging start following his move from the Dutch club and a period away from training with his new team-mates. Bayern’s response also underlined the significance of his first outing in their colours.

The club had waited until Saibari was ready to return after his World Cup injury, and he was brought into the match for the final stages rather than starting. His brief appearance was enough to provide the moment that helped Bayern secure a 3-1 result against Leipzig.

Saibari will now continue his integration into the Bayern squad after making his debut earlier than might have been expected following his return from individual training. His long-term agreement, lasting through 2031, reflects the club’s commitment to the player who has arrived after his involvement with Morocco at the 2026 World Cup.
