Ferran Torres targets Champions League glory after joining Paris Saint-Germain

Ferran Torres says he has joined Paris Saint-Germain with the ambition of winning the Champions League after completing his move from Barcelona on a contract running until 2031.

Paris Saint-Germain announced the signing on Saturday morning, with the deal reportedly worth 50m euros without add-ons. Torres immediately joined his new team-mates in training following confirmation of the transfer.

“I am extremely happy to begin a new adventure with an ambitious club like Paris Saint-Germain,” Torres said on the club’s official website.

“I would like to thank president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Luis Campos and head coach Luis Enrique for giving me the opportunity to join this team. I hope I can help it win as many trophies as possible.”

Torres, 26, said he was eager to begin a new chapter after a rapid period in which he helped Spain win the 2026 World Cup.

“Since we won the World Cup, everything has happened very quickly. We barely had time off to take in what happened, but the football world moves fast and we now have to focus on the new season,” he said.

“I have joined an ambitious team and I have to live up to expectations. I must help my team-mates as much as I can and also try to give these wonderful supporters plenty of happiness.”

The forward will work again under Luis Enrique, having previously played for the Spain manager during his time in charge of the national team.

“When I had the opportunity to train under him with the national team, he always showed great confidence in my abilities,” Torres said. “Now having the chance to work with him again makes me extremely excited to start this project.”

“He is a coach who knows very well how to guide and understand a player, and how to trust him, even when the player himself does not fully believe in his abilities. He knows how to motivate you to produce your best.”

Torres scored 21 goals in 49 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions during the 2025-26 season. He finished the campaign as the Catalan club’s leading scorer, with 16 goals for the team, and helped them win La Liga for a second consecutive season after their competition with Real Madrid.

Barcelona also retained the Spanish Super Cup, defeating Real Madrid 3-2 in the final.

At international level, Torres has scored 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain. He played a decisive role in their 2026 World Cup triumph by scoring the winning goal in the 106th minute of extra time.

Outlining his objectives in Paris, Torres said: “I want to return to winning every trophy possible, make the Parisian supporters happy, score many goals and provide many assists. Above all, I want to continue the winning run.”

“I am still very young and I believe this will be an experience that lasts for many years. Why not win the Champions League here? I have never had the opportunity to win it before, and I believe this is the right club for me.”

Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to face Lens in the French Super Cup on Sunday.
