Ferran Torres completes move to Paris Saint-Germain as Barcelona forward signs until 2031

Barcelona have announced that Spain forward Ferran Torres has joined Paris Saint-Germain, with the French champions confirming the attacker has signed a contract running until 2031 and will wear the number nine shirt.

Barcelona confirmed the transfer on Saturday in a message posted on their official X account, saying: “We have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain regarding the transfer of Ferran Torres to the French club.”

Paris Saint-Germain also announced the signing on their official website, publishing a detailed account of Torres’ career from his early days in Spain through to his time with Barcelona.

Torres was born in Foios, Spain, on 29 February 2000. He first began developing as a footballer through futsal before joining Valencia’s academy at the age of seven.

After progressing through every stage of Valencia’s youth system, Torres became the first player born in the 21st century to play in La Liga. He made that appearance against Eibar on 16 December 2017.

He spent three seasons playing at the highest level for Valencia between 2017 and 2020, during which time he also made his debut in the UEFA Champions League. Across 97 appearances for the club, Torres established a number of age-related records.

At 19 years and 324 days, he became the youngest player in Valencia’s history to reach 50 league appearances. He was also the first player born in the 21st century to score for a Spanish club in the UEFA Champions League.

Torres won his first senior honour in 2019, when Valencia lifted the Copa del Rey.

His performances earned him a move to Manchester City in 2020. Under manager Pep Guardiola, he scored his first goal for Manchester City in the EFL Cup against Burnley, just six days after making his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In 2021, Torres was part of the Manchester City squad that reached the UEFA Champions League final. He also helped the club win the Premier League and the EFL Cup during that year.

He began the 2021-22 season with Manchester City before moving to Barcelona during the January transfer window. In total, Torres made 43 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists.

Torres went on to become an important member of Barcelona’s attack. During 207 matches for the Catalan club, he scored 65 goals.

One of those goals came in the 2025 Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid. Torres’ strike gave Barcelona the opportunity to play extra time as they went on to win the trophy.

His honours with Barcelona include three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.

Paris Saint-Germain’s announcement marks the next stage of Torres’ career after his spell at Barcelona, where he established himself as a regular attacking option and added several major domestic trophies to his collection.
