Paris Saint-Germain sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres after World Cup triumph
Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, who joins the French club after helping Spain win the 2026 World Cup.
Torres has agreed a five-season contract with Paris Saint-Germain that will keep him at the club until 2031. The transfer fee is €50m, excluding any additional performance-related payments.
The Spain international has already taken part in Paris Saint-Germain training following confirmation of the deal. He is expected to travel to the French capital after receiving clearance from Barcelona, with a medical examination scheduled before the move is formally completed.
Torres arrives in Paris after an outstanding campaign for Barcelona. During the 2025-26 season, he played 49 matches in all competitions and scored 21 goals.
He also finished last season as Barcelona’s leading scorer, finding the net 16 times as the Catalan club retained the Spanish league title for a second successive season after competing with Real Madrid.
Barcelona also won the Spanish Super Cup for the second consecutive year, beating Real Madrid 3-2 in the final.
At international level, Torres played a decisive role in Spain’s World Cup success. He scored the winning goal in the 106th minute of the second half of extra time, helping La Roja secure the 2026 World Cup.
The forward has now scored 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain.
Paris Saint-Germain’s immediate focus is on the UEFA Super Cup, with the club preparing to face Lens in the competition. Torres’ arrival gives the French side another attacking option as it begins preparations for that fixture.
The transfer brings together a player arriving at the peak of his recent form and a Paris Saint-Germain side preparing for another major campaign. Torres’ goalscoring record for Barcelona, his contribution to Spain’s World Cup victory and his established international experience were key features of his move to the French club.
The 50m-euro agreement, without add-ons, completes Barcelona’s sale of a player who was their top scorer last season and had helped deliver successive domestic league and Spanish Super Cup triumphs.
Torres will now continue his integration into the Paris Saint-Germain squad, subject to the final medical process and the completion of the transfer formalities.
