Trezeguet named in Al-Riyadh starting XI just three days after joining from Al Ahly
Maden Hassan “Trezeguet” will lead the Al-Riyadh attack against Al-Ettifaq in the opening round of the Saudi Pro League, only three days after completing his move from Al Ahly.
The match is scheduled to begin at 21:00 Cairo time, with Mauricio Dulk confirming his Al-Riyadh starting line-up for the club’s first league fixture of the new campaign.
Trezeguet has been selected in a front three alongside Leonardo Antonio and Teddy Okou. His inclusion comes shortly after his arrival at Al-Riyadh from Egyptian club Al Ahly, making the forward one of the main points of interest before the meeting with Al-Ettifaq.
Al-Riyadh will start with Milan Borjan in goal. The defence consists of Sultan Al-Eissa, Rodrigo Pascal, Suleiman Hazzazi and Mohammed Al-Khaibari.
Fahad Al-Jizani, Victor Lekhal and Bernard Mensah have been named in midfield, while Trezeguet, Antonio and Okou make up the attacking line.
Al-Riyadh’s confirmed starting XI is:
Goalkeeper: Milan Borjan
Defenders: Sultan Al-Eissa, Rodrigo Pascal, Suleiman Hazzazi, Mohammed Al-Khaibari
Midfielders: Fahad Al-Jizani, Victor Lekhal, Bernard Mensah
Forwards: Leonardo Antonio, Teddy Okou, Maden Hassan “Trezeguet”
The Saudi Pro League began on Thursday evening, with Al-Hazem opening the season with a 2-1 victory over Abha.
Al-Riyadh finished 15th in the Saudi Pro League last season, collecting 30 points. They begin the new campaign against Al-Ettifaq with Trezeguet immediately entrusted with a starting role in attack.
The fixture is therefore the first opportunity for the Egyptian forward to appear in Al-Riyadh’s starting line-up following his move from Al Ahly. His selection was confirmed by manager Mauricio Dulk before the opening-round match, with the club turning to the recently signed attacker as it begins its latest league campaign.
Al-Ettifaq will provide the opposition in a match that forms part of the first round of the Saudi Pro League. For Al-Riyadh, the focus will be on starting the season positively after ending the previous campaign in 15th place with 30 points.
The announcement of the line-up also marks a swift start to Trezeguet’s time at his new club. Having joined only three days before the game, he has been placed at the centre of Al-Riyadh’s attacking plans for the meeting with Al-Ettifaq.
