Diogo Bras departs Sogndal after Portugal-Angola defender’s spell in Norway

Portugal-Angola right-back Diogo Bras has joined the ranks of unattached players after leaving Norwegian club Sogndal.

The 26-year-old’s departure was completed on 14 August 2026, ending his time with the OBOS-ligaen side. No transfer fee has been recorded for the move, and Bras is now listed without a club.

Bras made 37 appearances in the OBOS-ligaen during his career, providing one assist. He has also played in Portugal’s Liga Portugal 2 and Liga 3, as well as domestic cup competitions in both Portugal and Norway.

The defender moved to Sogndal from Uniao de Santarem on 26 February 2025. He had joined the Portuguese club from Feirense on a free transfer in July 2024, before switching to Norway during the following season.

A right-footed full-back, Bras began his development in the Chaves youth system before moving to Sporting’s academy in 2012. He progressed through Sporting’s youth teams and represented Sporting CP Under-23s and Sporting B before leaving Portugal’s capital for Feirense in 2022.

His senior record includes appearances in Liga Portugal 2 with Feirense and Uniao de Santarem, while he also featured in Liga 3 and its relegation round. He scored once in the UEFA Youth League during his earlier development years and registered assists in competitions including Liga Portugal 2, Liga 3 and the Norwegian NM-Cup.

Bras stands 1.82m tall and has represented both Portugal and Angola in terms of nationality. His recorded market value at the time of his departure from Sogndal was €175,000.

The move brings to an end the latest stage of a career that has taken the defender from Chaves and Sporting’s youth setup into senior football in Portugal and Norway. Diogo Bras left Sogndal on 14 August 2026 and is now without a club.
