English-Nigerian Fikayo Tomori put on AC Milan clear-out list as Premier League clubs circle

Fikayo Tomori has reportedly been placed on AC Milan’s transfer list as Ruben Amorim prepares to reshape his squad ahead of the final weeks of the summer window.

The 28-year-old defender is heading into his seventh season at San Siro after initially joining Milan on loan from Chelsea in January 2021. His impressive first campaign convinced the Italian giants to activate a £25 million option to make the move permanent.

Despite remaining an important figure last season and starting 31 of Milan’s 38 Serie A matches, Tomori now appears to have fallen outside Amorim’s plans.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan have included the England international on their list of players available for transfer, with the decision reportedly coming after discussions involving Amorim and co-owner Gerry Cardinale.

Tomori is not the only high-profile name facing an uncertain future, with former Chelsea midfielder Christopher Nkunku and Youssouf Fofana also reportedly available for a move.

Premier League interest could return

Tomori’s situation is particularly intriguing given his experience in English football and previous links with several Premier League clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur considered signing him in January 2025, while Newcastle United, West Ham United and Brentford have also previously shown interest.

Tottenham’s chances of pursuing another deal appear slim after strengthening their defence with Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi.

Coventry City have now emerged as another potential destination, with Sky Blues boss Frank Lampard already familiar with Tomori from their time together at Derby County.

The defender made 81 appearances under Lampard, the second-highest tally of any manager during his career, behind Stefano Pioli’s 142.

Liverpool also in the frame

Liverpool have also been mentioned as a possible destination for Tomori as they assess defensive options following their recent acquisition of Ronald Araujo on loan from Barcelona.

The Milan defender brings considerable experience, having made 214 appearances for the Rossoneri and won six England caps. He has also lifted both the Serie A title and Supercoppa Italiana during his time in Italy.

With the transfer window closing on September 1 and Tomori having only one year remaining on his contract, Milan could be willing to sanction a relatively affordable deal.
