Arsenal consider Victor Osimhen as attacking overhaul gathers pace

Victor Osimhen has emerged as a possible target for Arsenal during discussions involving Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri, according to The Telegraph.

Galatasaray are understood to have proposed a fee of about 44m euros for Martinelli, who is 25. The Turkish club’s negotiations also reportedly included Nwaneri, the 19-year-old England international, with Osimhen’s situation raised during the discussions.

It remains unclear whether Galatasaray made a formal offer for the 27-year-old Nigeria striker or whether Arsenal simply asked about his availability.

Arsenal have been interested in Osimhen for some time, although their main attacking priority is Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid. The Premier League champions could yet consider alternative options if Alvarez proves too expensive.

The possibility of Osimhen moving to north London would create significant competition for places in Arsenal’s attack. Kai Havertz already plays an important role in the central striking position, while the club spent heavily last year to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

Arsenal paid approximately 66m euros for the Sweden striker. Should Osimhen also arrive, manager Mikel Arteta would have several high-profile options competing to lead the line.

The Gunners have continued to strengthen after winning the English title and have already invested about 176m euros in new signings. Bruno Guimaraes and Piero Hincapie, who is currently on loan, were among the players bought by Arsenal this summer.

The club also committed a considerable sum to recruit Gyokeres last year, making any move for Osimhen another major investment in the squad.

Osimhen’s future has been the subject of continued interest, but the latest report does not establish that Arsenal have submitted an offer for him. Equally, there is no confirmation that Galatasaray’s proposal for Martinelli has led to a formal exchange involving the striker.

For now, the discussions have only linked Osimhen with the wider transfer activity surrounding Arsenal’s attacking options. The London club’s preference remains Alvarez, but the likely cost of signing the Atletico Madrid forward could influence whether they pursue another target.

Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen therefore appears to be part of their wider planning rather than an agreed transfer. Any move would also intensify the battle for a starting place alongside Havertz and Gyokeres, both of whom already have important roles in Arteta’s team.
