Trabzonspor agree deal with Al Hilal to sign Darwin Nunez

Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah reports that Trabzonspor have reached an agreement with Al Hilal to sign Uruguay forward Darwin Nunez.

The 27-year-old is set to leave the Saudi club after one season, with the Turkish side having completed an arrangement with Al Hilal to secure his services, according to the report.

Nunez could be reunited with former Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah at Trabzonspor. The pair played together at Anfield and were part of the Liverpool side that won the Premier League title in the 2024-25 season.

Nunez moved to Saudi Arabia last season for a reported fee of 54m euros. However, he did not produce the level of performances expected of him and is understood to be looking to regain his form in Turkey.

During his previous season with Al Hilal, Nunez made 24 appearances in all competitions. He scored nine goals and provided five assists.

The reported agreement follows Trabzonspor’s decision to abandon their pursuit of Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic. The Turkish club’s coaching staff were not convinced by the Serbia international’s recent physical and technical condition, according to the report.

Vlahovic later joined Turkish club Besiktas.

If the move is completed, Nunez will join a Trabzonspor squad that has already added Salah. The Egypt international moved to the club in recent days on a two-year contract.

Salah has begun training with Trabzonspor as the team prepares for the 2026-27 season.

The proposed transfer would give Nunez another opportunity to play alongside Salah after their time together at Liverpool. Their previous spell at the club ended with the Premier League triumph in 2024-25, before Nunez made his move to Al Hilal.

Al-Riyadiyah’s report represents the latest development in the forward’s future, with Trabzonspor now understood to have agreed terms with Al Hilal for his transfer. The report does not provide further details about the financial terms of the deal or a timetable for Nunez’s arrival in Turkey.
