Victor Osimhen linked with Arsenal as Galatasaray talks include Martinelli and Nwaneri

Arsenal have discussed the possibility of signing Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen during negotiations with Galatasaray over Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri, according to The Telegraph.

Osimhen is currently under contract with the Turkish champions, who are interested in Arsenal’s Martinelli and Nwaneri.

The discussions have raised the possibility of a deal involving players moving in opposite directions, although no agreement has been reached.

According to The Telegraph, Osimhen’s availability was discussed during talks over Martinelli, 25, and Nwaneri, 19. Galatasaray have reportedly offered about €44m for Martinelli as they seek to strengthen their squad.

The potential for Arsenal to buy Osimhen, who is 27, was also raised during the negotiations. It remains unclear whether Galatasaray have formally proposed the striker to Arsenal or whether the London club themselves have asked about his availability.

Arsenal have been interested in Osimhen for some time as they continue to assess their attacking options. However, their main target is reportedly Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid.

Alvarez’s expected price could prove difficult for Arsenal to meet, potentially forcing the club to consider alternative targets. Osimhen could therefore become an option if the Gunners decide to move in a different direction.

Arsenal have already been active in the transfer market after winning the league title and have continued to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The club have spent significant sums on reinforcements, with Bruno Guimarães and Piero Hincapie, who had previously been on loan, among the players bought this summer.

Arsenal’s total spending has now reached about €176m, highlighting the scale of their activity in the transfer market.

The club also invested heavily last year when they signed Swedish striker Victor Gyökeres from Sporting CP for about €66m.

A move for Osimhen would further increase competition for attacking places at the Emirates Stadium. Kai Havertz is already an important part of Arsenal’s forward options, meaning the arrival of another high-profile striker would give Arteta more competition in the area.

For now, the possibility of Osimhen moving to Arsenal remains linked to the ongoing discussions with Galatasaray.
