Ipswich Town are close to completing the signing of Ivorian youngster Abdoul Ouattara from French club RC Strasbourg in a deal worth around €20m.

Negotiations between the two clubs have advanced significantly, with an agreement now close to being finalised for the versatile 20-year-old.

Ouattara was developed in Strasbourg’s academy and made the step up to the club’s first team after quickly establishing himself as a player capable of operating in several positions.

His versatility has been one of his main strengths, with the Ivorian able to play at right-back, in midfield or further forward in a more attacking role.

That flexibility has made Ouattara an attractive option for Ipswich as they continue to reshape their squad.

The proposed transfer represents a significant financial commitment from the English club, with the fee understood to be around €20m.

Ipswich see the move as part of their efforts to strengthen the squad and continue their rebuilding project at Portman Road.

Ouattara’s ability to cover different areas of the pitch could give the club greater tactical flexibility while also adding another young player with room to develop.

The 20-year-old’s progress at Strasbourg has now placed him on the verge of a move to England, with Ipswich nearing an agreement to bring him to Portman Road.

The deal is not yet fully completed, but discussions between Ipswich and Strasbourg are understood to be at an advanced stage.

If the transfer is finalised, Ouattara will begin a new chapter of his career in England after developing through the Strasbourg system and establishing himself at senior level.

For Ipswich, the potential arrival of the Ivorian underlines their intention to continue rebuilding the squad and make further progress at the highest level.

The club are now close to securing a player whose ability to operate across defence, midfield and attack could provide an important tactical option.

With negotiations nearing completion, Ouattara is increasingly close to becoming an Ipswich Town player.
