Manchester City hold advanced talks with Al Qadsiah over Tijjani Reijnders transfer

Manchester City are in advanced negotiations with Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah over the transfer of Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

The two clubs are understood to be close to an agreement on a fee of about 60m euros for Reijnders, although the player has not yet decided whether he wants to move to the Saudi Pro League.

Reijnders has not been convinced by the prospect of a transfer to Saudi Arabia, meaning discussions between the clubs have progressed further than talks with the player. His position remains a key factor in determining whether the deal can be completed.

Nottingham Forest are also monitoring the situation. The Premier League club have shown an interest in signing the Netherlands international and are following developments in the negotiations between Manchester City and Al Qadsiah.

Reijnders, 27, still has a contract with Manchester City until the summer of 2030. He joined the club from AC Milan in the summer of 2025 for a reported 55m euros, following a period in which he established himself as one of the Italian club’s most important players.

The midfielder made a positive start to life at Manchester City after his move, but his role gradually diminished as the season progressed. He spent periods of the campaign on the substitutes’ bench, despite making a significant number of appearances.

Reijnders played 2,810 minutes for Manchester City last season. During that time, he scored seven goals, including five in the Premier League, and provided eight assists.

His potential departure would come only a year after arriving at the club and would represent a move for a fee higher than the amount Manchester City paid to sign him from AC Milan. However, the proposed transfer remains dependent on Reijnders’ willingness to leave European football for the Saudi Pro League.

Al Qadsiah’s interest has placed the Saudi club at the centre of the negotiations, but Nottingham Forest’s involvement means there is also interest from England. The position of all three parties is therefore being watched as discussions continue.

If he does move to Al Qadsiah, Reijnders could follow his Netherlands team-mate Crysencio Summerville to Saudi Arabia. Summerville joined Al Hilal after impressing for the Netherlands at the World Cup.

For now, Manchester City and Al Qadsiah are reported to be nearing an agreement over the financial terms, while Reijnders considers whether the proposed move is right for him.
