Mohamed Ali Zoma transfer race intensifies after Bundesliga 2 hat-trick

Mohamed Ali Zoma’s future has been thrown into fresh uncertainty after the 25-year-old scored a hat-trick on the opening day of the German second division season, prompting renewed interest from a number of clubs.

The FC Nuremberg forward’s performance has revived speculation over a possible move during the summer transfer window. Several clubs that had been monitoring Zoma since the start of the market have now stepped up their interest after his three-goal display.

According to exclusive information from Africa Top Sports, Royal Antwerp are particularly keen on the striker. The Belgian top-flight club are understood to have been attracted by Zoma’s profile and his strong start to the new campaign.

There is also interest from Italy, where two clubs have opened discussions with the player’s representatives about a possible transfer. The identities of those clubs have not been disclosed.

Lens, Paris FC and Strasbourg were the first teams to show an interest in Zoma, before the latest developments involving Royal Antwerp and the two Italian sides. The French clubs have therefore been tracking the forward for longer than the other reported contenders.

The latest information indicates that Lens and Strasbourg remain in the race, despite the growing competition for the Nuremberg player. Paris FC were also among the first clubs to make contact, although no further update on their position has been provided.

FC Nuremberg are expected to demand at least 15m euros before agreeing to sell Zoma. That valuation could rise significantly, with Peter Meier, chairman of the German club’s supervisory board, having suggested in comments to Nurnberg Nachrichten that the eventual transfer fee could reach 20m euros.

Zoma remains under contract with FC Nuremberg until 2029, placing the club in a strong negotiating position. However, despite the length of his deal and the reported asking price, the striker still does not know whether he will remain in Germany or leave during the current transfer window.

His hat-trick has ensured that his situation is now attracting greater attention, with Royal Antwerp, clubs from Italy and the interested French sides all monitoring developments. FC Nuremberg’s financial demands will be central to any negotiations, particularly given the possibility of a fee between 15m and 20m euros.
