Fenerbahce agree permanent transfer of Egypt defender Omar Fayed to Frosinone

Fenerbahce have agreed to sell Egypt defender Omar Fayed to Serie A club Frosinone, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

Fayed is expected to travel to Italy on Thursday to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of the move. The agreement is for a permanent transfer, rather than another loan spell, marking a change in the defender’s situation after he spent each of the past three seasons away from the Turkish club.

The 23-year-old remains under contract with Fenerbahce until the summer of 2027. However, he has not made a single first-team appearance for the Istanbul-based club since joining from Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the summer of 2023.

Fayed’s move to Fenerbahce came after his time with Al Mokawloon Al Arab, where he played 28 matches. Since arriving in Turkey, he has instead gained experience through successive loan spells in Serbia, Belgium and Portugal.

He joined Serbian side Novi Pazar for the 2023-24 season, before moving to Belgian club Beerschot for the 2024-25 campaign. His most recent temporary transfer took him to Portuguese club Arouca for the 2025-26 season.

Across those three seasons, Fayed made 38 league appearances in the Serbian, Belgian and Portuguese top divisions. He did not feature for Fenerbahce during that period, despite remaining contracted to the club.

Frosinone have returned to Italy’s top flight after a two-season absence. The club’s promotion provides Fayed with the opportunity to continue his development in Serie A, following his spells in three other European leagues.

Romano’s report said Fayed will arrive in Italy on Thursday, with the medical examination and contract signing still to be completed. The transfer therefore remains subject to those formal steps, but Fenerbahce have agreed to allow the defender to leave on a permanent basis.

Fayed’s departure would bring an end to his three-year association with Fenerbahce, where he was unable to establish himself in the first team after arriving from Al Mokawloon Al Arab. His previous loan moves have given him regular competitive football, with his 38 league appearances coming across the Serbian, Belgian and Portuguese competitions.

The defender’s next move will take him to Frosinone as the club begins life back in Serie A following two seasons outside the division. His arrival is set to be confirmed once he completes his medical and signs the necessary documents in Italy.
