Jayden Adams’ partner shares grief one month after Bafana Bafana star’s death

Aqueelah Adendorf has paid tribute to late Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams, saying his death “still doesn’t feel real” one month after he passed away.

Adams died on 11 July at the age of 25. His body was discovered at a property in Cape Town’s Schotsche Kloof suburb shortly after he returned from representing South Africa at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Adendorf and Adams had a five-year-old daughter, Allaia-Jayda. Adams also had a toddler son, Jude, with Jody Solomons.

Adendorf marked the anniversary of Adams’ death with a series of emotional posts on her Instagram stories, describing the continuing pain of losing him.

“Today marks one month since you left this world, and somehow it still doesn’t feel real,” Adendorf wrote.

“A whole month without your voice, your presence, your smile… yet the pain feels like it happened yesterday. I miss you more than words could ever explain. I wish I could have one more conversation, one more hug, one more moment with you.

“Life has carried on, but a part of me is still stuck on the day you left. You will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever a part of me. I hope heaven is treating you gently, my love. One month gone but never one day forgotten. Rest peacefully, Jayden.”

In a separate post, Adendorf shared a photograph of herself at Adams’ grave and wrote about wishing she could hear him speak again.

“Standing here beside your grave, wishing with everything in me that you could answer me back… I still catch myself wishing you’d say something, anything, just so I could hear your voice again. I miss you more than words could ever explain.”

She also posted an image from her pregnancy, accompanied by the words: “You left me with a broken heart.”

Adams was buried on 25 July, when family members, supporters and football legends gathered to remember the Mamelodi Sundowns player and say their final goodbyes.

Mamelodi Sundowns founder Patrice Motsepe previously pledged that the club would continue supporting Adams’ family and children.

“I’m very proud that there was some discussion about Mamelodi Sundowns continuing to see how they can help, at least for some time, to try to help Jayden’s children,” Motsepe said.

Adams’ death came soon after he had represented South Africa at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His passing has left his family, club and supporters mourning while the police investigation remains ongoing.
