Brest emerge as possible destination for Salzburg’s Mamady Diambou
Mali midfielder Mamady Diambou, who currently plays for Salzburg, has been linked with a move to Stade Brestois.
The proposed switch would take the 23-year-old defensive midfielder from Austria’s Bundesliga to France’s Ligue 1, although the transfer remains a rumour rather than a confirmed agreement.
Diambou is under contract with Salzburg until 30 June 2028, meaning any departure would involve a player who remains tied to the Austrian club for the next two seasons. His current market value is listed at €1.5m.
The link places Diambou among the players potentially being considered by Brest as the French club looks across the Austrian top flight for a midfield addition. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported alongside the rumour.
Diambou’s profile is defined by his role in defensive midfield and his age, with the Mali international still 23. Salzburg’s position in the Bundesliga and Brest’s place in Ligue 1 would make the proposed move a change of league and country for the player.
The rumour is dated 12 August 2026, with Diambou’s contractual commitment to Salzburg currently running until the end of June 2028.
