Orlando Pirates tracking free-agent left-back Solomon Letsoenyo

Orlando Pirates are understood to be monitoring former TS Galaxy left-back Solomon Letsoenyo after the 28-year-old became a free agent.

Letsoenyo is available following his departure from TS Galaxy, and the South African club are among the possible destinations being considered for the defender. However, there is currently no indication that Pirates have agreed a deal or made a concrete move for him.

The Siya crew understands that the Buccaneers have shown interest in Letsoenyo, although it remains unclear whether that interest will progress into formal negotiations.

The left-back joined TS Galaxy in 2023 after leaving Stellenbosch FC. He is now assessing his options on the transfer market after a campaign in which he made 32 appearances in all competitions for the Mpumalanga club.

Letsoenyo’s involvement changed during the closing stages of the 2025/26 season. He was named among the substitutes for TS Galaxy’s final four league matches, but he did play in the Nedbank Cup final against Durban City in May.

His availability could appeal to clubs seeking competition or additional cover at left-back, with Orlando Pirates understood to be one of the sides worth watching as they assess potential options.

Pirates have established a close working relationship with Stellenbosch in recent years. The Soweto club have recruited several members of the Cape Winelands side’s technical and performance departments, strengthening the connection between the two clubs.

Brendon Fourie has been one of the most prominent backroom figures to move from Stellenbosch to Pirates. The Buccaneers also appointed Stellenbosch head of performance Ruan Rust in November 2024 and performance analyst Devon O’Brien in July 2024.

That relationship has led to continued interest in players who have links to Stellenbosch, whether they remain at the club or have moved on. Letsoenyo’s previous spell there could therefore make him a potential option for Pirates as they consider the market.

For now, though, the defender’s next club has not been decided. While Pirates are understood to have an interest, there is no suggestion that an agreement is close or that a transfer has been finalised.

Letsoenyo’s departure from TS Galaxy leaves him free to negotiate with interested clubs, and his experience with both Stellenbosch FC and TS Galaxy could make him an attractive option for teams looking to strengthen at left-back. Whether that results in a move to Orlando Pirates remains to be seen.
