Destiny Avenbuan joins Lucan United as free agent
Ireland-Nigeria defender Destiny Avenbuan has joined Lucan United as a free agent, completing his move to the National League club on 12 August 2026.
The 20-year-old left-back arrives after spending the previous part of his career with Bray Wanderers. Avenbuan left Bray on 1 January 2026 before joining Lucan United, with the latest move bringing him back into club football after a period without a club.
Born in Dublin, Avenbuan holds Irish and Nigerian nationality and plays primarily on the left side of defence. He is 1.73m tall and favours his left foot, attributes that define his role as a specialist left-back.
Avenbuan joined Bray Wanderers from Rovers Academy in January 2024 on a free transfer. Before that, he had been with UCD Academy, moving to Rovers Academy in January 2022 without a transfer fee.
His arrival gives Lucan United a defender with experience of progressing through the Irish academy system and moving between clubs in the country. The transfer also marks the latest step in Avenbuan’s career after his spell with Bray ended at the start of 2026.
Lucan United have now registered Avenbuan as part of their squad for the 2026-27 season. The Ireland-Nigeria full-back completed his move to the National League club on 12 August 2026.
