Senegal midfielder Cheikh Niasse targeted by Al Jazira

Senegalese midfielder Cheikh Niasse has emerged as a transfer target for United Arab Emirates club Al Jazira, who are looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.

According to the Italian press, Al Jazira have already made an offer for the Hellas Verona player as they explore the possibility of bringing the defensive midfielder to the UAE.

Niasse’s future at Verona remains uncertain, with the Senegal international also attracting interest from Turkish club Konyaspor.

The midfielder joined Hellas Verona in January 2025 after leaving Swiss side Young Boys of Bern and has since made 31 Serie A appearances for the Italian club.

During the 2025-26 season, Niasse featured 20 times in the Italian top flight, starting 11 of those matches. He recorded 979 minutes of action and provided one assist.

His performances have now placed him on the radar of Al Jazira as the Emirati club assess options to reinforce their midfield.

His experience in France, Greece, Switzerland and Italy has given him a varied career across European football, while interest from Al Jazira could now take him to the United Arab Emirates.
