Madih Talal: French-Moroccan midfielder joins Chennaiyin FC on free transfer

French-Moroccan attacking midfielder Madih Talal has joined Chennaiyin FC from Jamshedpur FC on a free transfer. The 28-year-old has agreed a contract with the Indian Super League club until 31 May 2027.

Talal moves to Chennaiyin after less than a year at Jamshedpur, whom he joined from East Bengal FC on another free transfer in October 2025. His latest switch was completed on 12 August 2026, continuing a run of moves between Indian clubs in recent seasons.

The Paris-born player operates primarily in attacking midfield and is right-footed. He has spent the past three seasons in India, having initially arrived at Punjab FC from Greek side Kifisia in August 2023. His transfer to Punjab also came without a fee.

Before moving to India, Talal represented Kifisia in Greece during the 2022-23 season, helping the club win the Greek second tier. He was also named the competition’s best foreign player in 2023, an individual award he received during his time with the club.

Talal began his senior career in France, joining Amiens SC from Angers SCO B in 2017. He later spent time on loan at Entente SSG before moving to Spanish club Las Rozas CF in 2020. His subsequent French clubs included Red Star FC and US Avranches, from whom he departed for Kifisia in July 2022.

The move to Chennaiyin gives the club an attacking midfielder with experience in France, Spain, Greece and India. Talal’s market value is €375,000, while his highest recorded value was €500,000 in 2024.

His arrival follows a brief spell with Jamshedpur, where he spent the 2025-26 season after leaving East Bengal. He now becomes a Chennaiyin player under a contract running through the end of May 2027.

Talal’s move from Jamshedpur to Chennaiyin has been completed as a free transfer, with his new contract lasting until 31 May 2027.
