Frosler urges Kaizer Chiefs to respond quickly after MTN8 disappointment

Reeve Frosler has urged Kaizer Chiefs to put their MTN8 disappointment behind them and respond with a positive result against Sekhukhune United on Wednesday.

The Amakhosi defender said the squad must recover quickly from their cup setback, with another opportunity to improve their fortunes arriving at FNB Stadium.

“Losing the MTN8 game is not ideal, but we gotta pick ourselves up and move on to the next one,” Frosler said.

Chiefs face Babina Noko in a midweek fixture before returning to action at the weekend for another demanding test against Mamelodi Sundowns. Frosler believes the two matches give the team a chance to show a reaction after their MTN8 disappointment.

“We have Sekhukhune on Wednesday, another chance for us to go out there to do what we need to do to get a positive result,” he added.

The defender said Chiefs have already reviewed the defeat and discussed the aspects of their performance that require improvement. However, he stressed that those conversations will only matter if the team can apply the lessons when they return to the pitch.

The match against Sekhukhune United is scheduled for Wednesday at FNB Stadium, with kick-off at 19h30.

Frosler said the team’s immediate priority was to approach the fixture collectively, while also keeping in mind the challenge that awaits against Mamelodi Sundowns at the weekend.

“We have to look forward to Sekhukhune, we have another game on the weekend [against Sundowns], we must do what we need to do as a team,” he said.

Chiefs have therefore had little time to dwell on the MTN8 result. Their preparations have included a team discussion focused on what went wrong and where improvements are needed, according to Frosler.

“We sat down and discussed what we need to discuss, what we need to improve, what we need to get better at.

“We looking forward not [only] to Wednesday, hopefully we can turn things back to how we want it to be.”

The encounter with Sekhukhune United is the next chance for Kaizer Chiefs to turn that intention into a result, before the weekend meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns provides an even bigger test.
