Lamine Yamal’s late birthday party set for Barcelona country estate

Lamine Yamal will celebrate his 19th birthday on Tuesday, almost a month after his actual birthday, with more than 100 guests expected at a country estate on the outskirts of Barcelona.

The Barcelona and Spain winger was born on 13 July, but spent that date in the United States with the Spanish national team for the World Cup. His birthday celebration has therefore been arranged for 11 August, after he returned from the tournament and enjoyed several days of holiday in Colombia.

According to El Espanol, the party will take place at Mas de Sant Llei, a large country house in Vilanova del Valles which is commonly used as a wedding venue. More than 100 people are expected to attend, including several of Yamal’s Barcelona team-mates.

The event follows an exceptional summer for Yamal. Just days after turning 19 on 13 July, he lifted the World Cup with Spain. That success came only two years after he helped the national side win the European Championship.

Yamal is scheduled to rejoin his team-mates on Wednesday. He is among the players who reached the World Cup final, and Barcelona are also expecting the returns of Pau Cubarsi, Pedri, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres.

The teenager’s previous birthday celebration was even larger. He marked his 18th birthday a year ago at a party attended by more than 200 guests. Among those present were his former girlfriend Nicki Nicole and Barcelona players Robert Lewandowski and Gavi.

That celebration had a gangster-inspired theme, making it a notably elaborate occasion in comparison with a conventional birthday gathering. The details of this year’s event suggest Yamal will again be celebrating with a substantial guest list, although the expected number is lower than at his 18th birthday party.

The delayed celebration comes at the end of a remarkable period in Yamal’s career. His involvement in Spain’s World Cup success has added another major international honour to a medal collection that already included the European Championship won two years earlier.

After his short break in Colombia, Yamal is now due to return to Barcelona duties alongside the other members of the club’s squad who were involved in the World Cup final. The delayed party will take place before that return, at the Mas de Sant Llei estate in Vilanova del Valles.
